Dr. Stalder has collaborated with Prof. Bill Graham and other faculty at Queen's University, Belfast Northern Ireland for over 30 years.  Ken has worked with graduate students and staff on numerous projects, and has taught undergraduate physics courses at the University of Santa Clara and San Jose State University.

Dr. Stalder has been a member of the Dean's Leadership Council for the UCSD School of Physical Sciences.  Currently an emeritus member, he still mentors students pursuing their degrees in the physical sciences

Dr. Stalder worked at Applied Materials, Inc. in the 1980s, and volunteered for the Plasma Etch User's Group of the NCCAVS from the 1980s to 2009, and chaired the Group for part of that period.  He gave several presentations to that group on diagnostics of semiconductor processing plasmas.

Dr. Stalder is a life member of the American Physical Society, and was elected a Fellow of the APS in 2011.  He has also been a member of the IEEE, SPIE, AIAA and AGU

Dr. Stalder is regularly asked to review technical articles submitted to  APS and IOP journals, including Physics of Plasmas, Journal of Applied Physics, Plasma Sources Science and Technology

It is important to encourage young people to study the physical sciences and prepare them for the future.  Dr. Stalder has judged science fairs, given science talks, and chaperoned young students at Science Days at amusement parks, in addition to mentoring  university students studying physical sciences, and graduate students working toward Masters and Ph.D. degrees.
