About Us

Stalder Technologies and Research (STAR) is a small business enterprise, providing scientific and engineering services to corporate, academic, and government clients. STAR was founded by Kenneth R. Stalder, Ph.D., who for the last 35 years has conducted scientific investigations spanning a wide variety of technologies. This work has been conducted in high-technology companies as well as government-, academic-, and not-for-profit-laboratories. Our goal is to help clients solve difficult technical problems using a variety of disciplines, concentrating on physics and chemistry combined with related engineering disciplines such as electrical and mechanical engineering.

Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, STAR is headed by Dr. Stalder, and draws on other recognized leaders in their fields who are brought in as needs of particular projects are defined. Our small business structure allows us to respond quickly to your needs. We are able to provide worldwide coverage and can conduct work at your site, at our site, or third party sites.

Dr. Stalder is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and is recognized internationally for his work on ionized gases, and most recently on electrical discharges and plasmas in liquids. He is a reviewer for many journals and organizations, including the Journal of Applied Physics, Applied Physics Letters, Review of Scientific Instruments, Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, Plasmas Sources Science and Technology and IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science. He has also reviewed proposals for the National Science Foundation, NASA , the U. S. Army Research Office and other organizations.

Much of our work is interdisciplinary and, depending on client needs, can be be analytical, experimental, computational, or educational. Consulting and prototype development is also available. STAR maintains a library of technical books, reports, publications, and software. In addition, we have access to academic libraries and internet-based information databases. Work products are defined at the beginning of a project and make include technical reports, sofware, documentation, consulting, or prototypes.
